The Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve (NNR) is one of the largest active coastal landslips in Western Europe. The NNR stretches 7 miles in length between Axmouth to the West and Lyme Regis in the East and lies at the heart of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, with excellent geological exposures from the Triassic, Cretaceous and Jurassic periods accessible from the wild remote and spectacular foreshore. The best time of year to see the woodland areas of the site is in the spring when wild flowers such as wild daffodils and bluebells can be seen. The dramatic inland cliffs and geological features are best visible in the winter when the trees have lost their foliage. The iconic ammonite pavement on Monmouth Beach near Lyme Regis can be accessed at low tide. (Devon and Dorset)
